Guns are not safe to carry in a pocket as they might accidentally fire which can be hazardous for the person carrying them and the people around them. The holster is a device that helps one hold the gun more safely and conveniently. Among various types of material, leather holsters are quite famous but for a beginner, it can be hard to see the benefit of spending an extra buck on leather when they can buy a cheaper alternative. So, here are a few reasons that one should opt for a leather holster.

Reason 1: Softness

Comfort is an important aspect of the thing that whether it’s a chain or a jacket and the same can be said about holsters. The comfort of the holster resides mainly (other than choosing the correct size belt) in the material used in the holster because it’s in contact with the skin especially when one is concealed carrying (or carrying it by hiding it from others) does it had to be soft.

A leather holster provides maximum softness and thus better comfort to the skin of the person that’s why people choose it as their default despite it being expensive.

Reason 2: Lasts longer

Things like humidity and extreme temperature ultimately affect the life of the holster as they endure damage to the holster. Most materials like nylon are not pretty good with extreme temperatures and humidity as a result they don’t last long. So, one had to spend money again to buy a new one.

But one can save this money by buying a leather holster that would last longer as leather can easily handle extreme temperature and humidity and last a lot longer than any other material.

Reason 3: They have higher retention

Retention of a holster is its ability to hold a gun in its place and don’t let it fall from the holster. The retention of a holster is the most important task of the holster and if it doesn’t sit properly then there is no use for it. The material that has maximum retention is leather as other materials don’t have the firmness that a leather holster would provide.

The retention of the holsters also deteriorates as the holster gets older as they don’t age well by humidity but this is also not the case with the leather holster as they are durable and they don’t lose shape.

Reason 4: They age beautifully

Most holsters get ugly as they age because their material starts to shed and all there would be left of the holster is a black ugly skeleton of the holster. A leather holster again wins the game here as they not only don’t deteriorate but become darker in color and still have the same look without any damage to the holster itself. So, a leather holster would age well and look beautiful.

Even when one buys a leather holster it looks more elegant and beautiful than a material like nylon or Kydex.
